Why Do You Need A SPF?

Even when it is cloudy outside or if you work indoors, you should be wearing sunscreen daily! It may sound extreme, but UVA rays account for up to 95% of the UV radiation reaching the earth’s surface & can penetrate clouds & glass. These UVA rays play a major part in photodamage & skin ageing. UVB rays are the chief cause of skin reddening & sunburn damage which can also lead to premature skin ageing. Both UVA & UVB rays have the potential to cause skin cancers.

For this reason, it is critical to choose a sunscreen that is ‘broad spectrum’. Broad Spectrum sunscreens are designed to protect against both UVB & UVA rays. A conventional sunscreen that has an SPF rating only & does not mention the term “Broad Spectrum” may block very little UVA radiation relative to the nominal SPF. How Much Sunscreen Is Reccommended To Apply?

We recommend applying a generous amount - equivalent to one teaspoon, to cover your face, neck and ears 20 minutes before sun exposure. It should then be reapplied every two hours.
