Why Do You Need To Wear Sunscreen?

Even when it is cloudy outside or if you work indoors, you should be wearing sunscreen daily! It may sound extreme, but UVA rays account for up to 95% of the UV radiation reaching the earth’s surface & can penetrate clouds & glass. These UVA rays play a major part in photodamage & skin ageing. UVB rays are the chief cause of skin reddening & sunburn damage which can also lead to premature skin ageing. Both UVA & UVB rays have the potential to cause skin cancers.

For this reason, it is critical to choose a sunscreen that is ‘broad spectrum’. Broad Spectrum sunscreens are designed to protect against both UVB & UVA rays. A conventional sunscreen that has an SPF rating only & does not mention the term “Broad Spectrum” may block very little UVA radiation relative to the nominal SPF. How Much Sunscreen Is Recommended To Apply?

We recommend applying a generous amount - equivalent to one teaspoon, to cover your face, neck and ears 20 minutes before sun exposure. It should then be reapplied every two hours.
