This festive season we've collaborated with Liandra Gaykamangu; Australian fashion designer and founder of luxury lifestyle brand LIANDRA for our 2024 holiday collection.
As a Yolngu woman from East Arnhem Land, Liandra brings Aboriginal Australian culture to our limited-edition holiday collection with a unique visual manifestation of her connection to the native honeybee. She designed a beautiful beehive print that not only is bright and rich in colour, but also rich in creative spirit.
To celebrate our partnership, we asked Liandra to take us behind the design and share her inspiration, process - and favourite set from the collection.
Who are your biggest influencers?
My parents have all instilled important lifelong morals, ethics and values that I am grateful for as they have
become the foundation of who I am. My mum has always been an incredible role model. She is career-driven and has achieved so many amazing things (like a gold medal at the 1986 Commonwealth Games), and she has always encouraged me to be and do my best.
My stepdad is the kindest person in the world and taught me how to be patient (still learning) and to always be mindful of the world around me. My dad, who was an important cultural leader, has always held me accountable and reminded me who I am, where I come from and what my responsibilities are - as a member of my family, clan and community.
How important is being an eco-conscious and sustainable brand to you?
It is incredibly important. It is a part of every decision made; particularly when coming to fabrics, prints and packaging. I always want to be mindful of the footprint we are making and what impact that will have; today, tomorrow and long after we are here!
What was the inspiration behind our 2024 design?
I wanted to take into consideration both the LIANDRA brand and also Ultraceuticals - particularly in the colours and meaning. When I saw the Ultraceuticals HQ it felt like this beautifully connected hive; everyone working in their section, focused on their job that helps to execute the bigger picture! I wanted to create the typical hexagonal shapes seen in the print, to represent a universally recognised beehive.
How did you decide on the vibrant colour palette?
LIANDRA is the home of culture and colour. We are known for bright, warm prints and so, I wanted to utilise a colour palette that felt like a good representation of LIANDRA, but also of Ultraceuticals; noting that it is for the Christmas Collection - a time of year buzzing with life, sun and heat.
Can you share with us your favourite set from our 2024 Holiday Collection?
If I had to choose just one, my favourite product pack is the Glow-Getter. I have been using these exact products for 12 months now and my skin has never looked or felt better. I love the Ultra Brightening Foaming Cleanser in particular because it is gentle on the skin and doesn’t strip my natural oils, but it removes all the dirt and makeup after a big day!
“I wanted to create something that spoke to the essence of both Liandra and Ultraceuticals. To me, Ultraceuticals felt very much like a beehive – each person working individually and as a team – something that also happens at Liandra.” - Liandra Gaykamangu.
