Why use an eye cream?

The skin around the eye area is different from the rest of the face. It is considerably less dense, may be more sensitive, and can be one of the first areas to show signs of ageing.

Premature aging of the eye area can present as fine lines, loss of elasticity, or skin firmness. This can be a result of facial expression and muscle movement or other extrinsic factors such as exposure to UV or environmental damage.

The delicate eye area must be treated with products specifically designed to allow minimal spread after application to the skin. Due to the enhanced sensitivity of the eye area, eye creams are formulated with an altered level of potent ingredients to promote skin comfort and minimize possible irritation.

The skin around the eyes is delicate, may be more sensitive and can be one of the first areas to show signs of premature ageing.

Ultra C Firming Eye Cream contains pure Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) to visibly improve elasticity and firmness around the eye area.

Pure Vitamin C has been proven to reduce the appearance of premature skin ageing through its role in supporting collagen production. How is this possible? Our build-up of collagen declines as we age and as a consequence, may show up in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dullness and loss of skin firmness. Applied topically - and with consistent use, Vitamin C delivers a plumper, firmer and overall radiant complexion.

Vitamin C may be applied topically to the skin either morning or evening. Always ensure that an SPF of 30 is used as a minimum when using active treatment products.

Using Vitamin C topically on a regular basis may assist to correct and prevent the skin from free radical damage, preserving and protecting skin cells from damage.

All skin types can benefit from this ingredient, particularly ageing skin - for its ability to firm and reduce the signs of premature skin ageing. However, it is important to build tolerance with use, especially for those with sensitive skin who may find it slightly irritating at first. We always recommend speaking directly with an Ultra Skin Expert for personalised advice by booking an online skin consultation or visiting your local Ultra clinc.

Vitamin C plays an essential part in supporting the production of collagen - a protein that makes up the structure of our cells and tissues. Our build-up of collagen declines as we age and may show up in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Applied topically, the antioxidant has been shown to support the body’s natural production of collagen and skin elasticity, restoring a resilient complexion and reducing the signs of premature ageing of the skin.

The key to a radiant and glowing complexion is a healthy skin barrier. The role of your skin barrier is to support the skin’s ability to retain moisture and protect your skin from environmental damage and unwanted substances including pollution and bacteria.

Vitamin C assists with ceramide production - the fats or lipids that make up 30%-40% of the skin's outer layer and play an important role in retaining essential moisture within the skin. The result? A rejuvenated and healthy-looking complexion.

Results are always dependent on the concern being treated and the triggering factors of the concern. With this in mind, most results should be recognised within a 90-day period.

The use of sunscreen daily is highly recommended no matter what active treatment products are being used on the skin. However, the fact Vitamin C reduces reactive oxygen species, it works to protect the cells from harmful free radical damage that is induced by the sun’s rays. It is because of this action that it is of benefit to use a Vitamin C underneath your daily SPF 30, 50 or 50+.

Pure Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) is an essential factor for collagen synthesis. It has been reported that Vitamin C directly stimulates fibroblasts to increase collagen production and also cause an increase in fibroblast proliferation potentially resulting in greater collagen production.

Not all forms of Vitamin C are the same. Pure Vitamin C is L-Ascorbic Acid. There are also synthetic forms of Vitamin C such as Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate. Pure Vitamin C is easily recognised and is readily incorporated into the skin versus some synthetic forms of Vitamin C. The derivatives of Vitamin C can also benefit the skin; however, they must be able to penetrate into the skin and then be converted to pure Vitamin C for the skin to recognise and utilise it.

While being strongly driven by genetics, enlarged pores are exacerbated by diverse factors, such as: Age, Ethnicity, Gender, Sebum quantity and Environmental factors such as UV or pollution.

Excessive Oil is caused when sebaceous glands release sebum, a natural protective oil that helps to keep the skin soft and supple. However, some skins produce an excessive amount of sebum. In women, sebum output and pore size increase substantially during the ovulation phase of the menstrual cycle, as increased progesterone affects sebaceous gland activity.

Loss of Firmness in the skin can also contribute to large, visible pores. When the skin loses its firmness, the pores can become bigger because the skin around them relaxes and sags, causing the pore walls to collapse resulting in a larger opening.
