Why moisturise?

Achieving optimal skin hydration is important for both healthy-looking skin and comfort. Dryness in the skin occurs when the skin is producing too little oil, as opposed to dehydration which occurs when there is excessive water loss from the skin. Both oily and dry skins can be dehydrated. Ultraceuticals moisturizers are designed to tackle dehydration and work to nourish the skin's surface layers. It is important to choose a moisturizer that suitable for your skin type. Thicker, creamier moisturizers (that contain more oils) are normally recommended for drier skin types, while oilier skin types might prefer lighter lotions (that contain fewer oils).

INFUSE: We infuse the skin with ingredients that will replace what occurs in the skin naturally - the NMF (Natural Moisturising Factor) which is using ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium PCA, Glycerine which will assist in maintaining hydration.
NOURISH: Then nourish the skin with ingredients such as ceramides, cholesterol, linoleic and linolenic acid to help replace the skin with lipids that occur naturally in the skin.
RETAIN: Along with these, we use ingredients that will help to retain, that is to lock and seal moisture and lipids into the skin, not occlusively just to still let the skin breathe but help to maintain hydration.

It is recommended to use a moisturiser twice daily, to help maintain skin health and general function of our Natural Moisturising Factor (NMF). If we don’t, the skin can become sensitive, flaky, dehydrated and damaged increasing the possibility of skin reactions and premature skin ageing.

Using moisturisers on the face during winter is essential for a number of reasons.
- Combat dryness: During winter, cold air and low humidity levels can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness, flakiness, and even cracking. Moisturisers help replenish the skin's moisture barrier, keeping it hydrated and preventing these issues.
- Protective barrier: Moisturisers create a protective barrier on the skin's surface, shielding it from harsh environmental conditions like cold winds and indoor heating, which can further dehydrate the skin.
- Prevent Irritation: Dry skin is more prone to irritation and inflammation. By keeping the skin moisturised, you can reduce the risk of developing conditions like eczema or dermatitis, which tend to flare up during winter.
- Maintain Skin Health: Well-hydrated skin is healthier and more resilient. Moisturisers not only provide immediate relief from dryness but also contribute to the long-term health and appearance of the skin by promoting elasticity and reducing the signs of ageing.
