How does Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) benefit the skin?

Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) is a powerful antioxidant that supports firmer, more resilient looking skin, helping to reinforce the epidermal barrier and hydrate the skin.

Pure Vitamin C has been proven to reduce the appearance of premature skin ageing through its role in supporting collagen production. How is this possible? Our build-up of collagen declines as we age and as a consequence, may show up in the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, dullness and loss of skin firmness. Applied topically - and with consistent use, Vitamin C delivers a plumper, firmer and overall radiant complexion.

Is Ultra C Firming Concentrate suitable for all skin types?

This product is suitable for normal, dry and combination skin types, addressing concerns including loss of firmness, dullness and discolouration.

Do Ultraceuticals corrective serums contain cosmeceutical-grade ingredients?

Supercharge your skin health thanks to the transformative power of our potent corrective serums. Enriched with the highest concentrations of cosmeceutical-grade ingredients, we have a product solution for every skin concern. Our range of corrective serums use potent and proven ingredients such as Vitamin A (Retinol), Vitamin C, Hyaluronic Acid, Provitamin B5 and Vitamin B3 in order to deliver real visible results.

How quickly do Ultraceuticals corrective serums absorb into the skin?

Our formula’s advanced deliver technology enables optimal product absorption, meaning our actives penetrate deeper and work harder for accelerated skin results.

Is Vitamin C ideal for all skin types?

All skin types can benefit from this ingredient, particularly ageing skin - for its ability to firm and reduce the signs of premature skin ageing. However, it is important to build tolerance with use, especially for those with sensitive skin who may find it slightly irritating at first. We always recommend speaking directly with an Ultra Skin Expert for personalised advice by booking an online skin consultation or visiting your local Ultra clinc.

What time of day should I apply Vitamin C?

Vitamin C may be applied topically to the skin either morning or evening. Always ensure that an SPF of 30 is used as a minimum when using active treatment products.

What does your skin benefit from using Vitamin C regularly?

Using Vitamin C topically on a regular basis may assist to correct and prevent the skin from free radical damage, preserving and protecting skin cells from damage.

How does Vitamin C benefit the skin's barrier?

The key to a radiant and glowing complexion is a healthy skin barrier. The role of your skin barrier is to support the skin’s ability to retain moisture and protect your skin from environmental damage and unwanted substances including pollution and bacteria.

Vitamin C assists with ceramide production - the fats or lipids that make up 30%-40% of the skin's outer layer and play an important role in retaining essential moisture within the skin. The result? A rejuvenated and healthy-looking complexion.

How does Vitamin C support ageing skin?

Vitamin C plays an essential part in supporting the production of collagen - a protein that makes up the structure of our cells and tissues. Our build-up of collagen declines as we age and may show up in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Applied topically, the antioxidant has been shown to support the body’s natural production of collagen and skin elasticity, restoring a resilient complexion and reducing the signs of premature ageing of the skin.

When will I start seeing results from Vitamin C treatment?

Results are always dependent on the concern being treated and the triggering factors of the concern. With this in mind, most results should be recognised within a 90-day period.

Is it safe to be in the sun after using Vitamin C?

The use of sunscreen daily is highly recommended no matter what active treatment products are being used on the skin. However, the fact Vitamin C reduces reactive oxygen species, it works to protect the cells from harmful free radical damage that is induced by the sun’s rays. It is because of this action that it is of benefit to use a Vitamin C underneath your daily SPF 30, 50 or 50+.

How Does Pure Vitamin C Benefit Skin Firmness?

Pure Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid) is an essential factor for collagen synthesis. It has been reported that Vitamin C directly stimulates fibroblasts to increase collagen production and also cause an increase in fibroblast proliferation potentially resulting in greater collagen production.

Not all forms of Vitamin C are the same. Pure Vitamin C is L-Ascorbic Acid. There are also synthetic forms of Vitamin C such as Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate. Pure Vitamin C is easily recognised and is readily incorporated into the skin versus some synthetic forms of Vitamin C. The derivatives of Vitamin C can also benefit the skin; however, they must be able to penetrate into the skin and then be converted to pure Vitamin C for the skin to recognise and utilise it.
